Lucky Girl!!!
Saturday, April 30, 2005
I found out the news just two or three days ago and I was in shock, surprise and in awe. I couldn't believe it because it was unlikely to happen. It was the most unexpected match. Who am I talking about?
Katie Holmes (Joey of Dawson's Creek) and Tom Cruise
I know. If you haven't heard yet, you're probably like, "No way!!!! Get outta town! Are you serious?!??!" (Like how my stepmom would react to something unbelievable. She was born and raised in the US and lived there most of her life and that explains such expression which we kids love to mimic).
I'm digressing. Anyway, a few days ago, I saw a picture of them just holding hands and I thought, "They're just holding hands. Anyone in Hollywood who holds hands claim that they are "just friends." But this picture made it real. That kiss proves how real their relationship is. I even found the accompanying article sweet.. Read it below.
CRUISE 'ENARMORED' WITH GIRLFRIEND HOLMES
Hollywood's newest couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may strike some as unlikely, but the match was foretold in Seventeen magazine.
"I think every little girl dreams about (her wedding)," Holmes told Seventeen in October. "I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."
Earlier this week, publicists for both actors confirmed the two had been dating for a few weeks. They have been photographed in Rome, where Cruise received a lifetime achievement award Friday at the David di Donatello Awards, the Italian equivalent of the Oscars.
When asked by a reporter for syndicated entertainment show "Extra" about Holmes' suddenly realized dream, Cruise replied, "I don't want to disappoint her."
Cruise, 42, wouldn't divulge how he met the 26-year-old Holmes, but said it was "like a dream" to have her with him for the awards ceremony.
"She's such an extraordinary woman," said Cruise. "It's beautiful. I feel really happy. I'm more than enamored."

Not that I have a thing for Tommy here but she is sooo lucky! Never mind that she was probably in Kindergarten when he had his first big hit in 1983 (Risky Business) or that she is taller than him by 2 inches (and 5 inches when wearing heels) as claimed in this
article. Sounds and looks like amore.
It just goes to show that you can just keep on dreaming for you'll never know. It might come true.

A Question Answered
Monday, April 25, 2005
One night, after one of our manager's meeting, my uncle, some members of the team and I were having a discussion about religion.
My uncle said something that struck me. He said that the reason why God gives one many blessings, may it be wealth or other material things, is because He trusts that person to share it with others. As an analogy, he said, "For instance, I have P25,000 in an envelope and I want to impart it with all of you. I ask Cat to divide the money with the rest of the (management) team. I gave her the money because I trust her and I know that she will divide the money with the rest of the team. But if I knew she wouldn't share the money with the team, I wouldn't entrust the money to her in the first place."
Countless times I always wonder why I am so lucky. Now I know why. And even if I always wonder why, I never forget to always say thank you.
(Disclaimer: I know my entry is somewhat vague as I am not really specifying why I am lucky. The purpose of this entry is to always remind me for years hereon why I am blessed and to not take my blessings for granted.)

Shame, Shame, Shame

You know what peeves me so much? When people do not even bother to stand up or stop what they're doing when the National Anthem is being played. Such was the case earlier when A and I watched Finding Neverland in Greenbelt 3 Cinemas. What annoys me even more is this couple were obviously:
1) Pinoy. It's a shame really because I've seen expats, tourists and foreigners respect our flag and National Anthem yet those who are children of this land cannot even stand to honor their country?! They even had the gall to look around and see if the handful of people in the cinema were standing. (I think the guy saw me staring at them yet he didn't even bother to pull himself and his girlfriend up! They just began digging into their take out out food and savor the nachos!)
2) From well- off families as can be seen by the gadgets they were carrying, the clothes they were wearing, the food they brought into the cinema. It just goes to show that there can be people from well off families who are properly educated but not bred.
I was soooo tempted to march up to them and tell them off. Of course, I didn't.
I hope to God that their mothers see them and throw them over their knees and give them a good spanking!

Rollercoaster
Wednesday, April 13, 2005
I'm at the bottom of the rollercoaster.
Yet once again.
I don't know where this is going to...
Is there an unexpected turn?
Will this rollercoaster suddenly stop?
And then just drop from mid- air?
Or is up the only way to go?
I fear the uncertain.
There's this queasy feeling at the pit of my stomach
That I wish would go away.
All I want to do is cry.
Yet the tears won't come.
I hate being at the bottom of this rollercoaster.
I wish I was on top again.
Raising my arms, smiling freely.

Tiny Talks: Part 8

The other day, as I was about to leave for the office, I was semi- running down the stairs with a box of choco mallows in one hand and my laptop bag on the other.
On the last step, I accidentally stepped on the strap of my laptop bag causing me to stumble. My three little brothers who were sitting in the living room, watching tv, saw me. They all stood up and rushed to my side and with all sincerity and concern started asking me,
"What's that?! What's that?! Can I have?!!! Can I have?!!!" while pointing to the box of choco mallows in my hand.

Another One Bites The Dust
While I was in Boracay, I went to an internet cafe to check my work email. I received a reservation all the way from Seattle. The American requested for a table overlooking the Manila Bay as he was going to propose to his Pinay girlfriend. I told him that unfortunately, our establishment did not have a view of the Manila Bay as we were far from it. Nevertheless, he still wanted to propose to his girlfriend in our restaurant and hoped that the waitstaff could somehow be involved. I told him it wasn't a problem and gave him the number of our manager so he could give specific instructions.
On the big day, after ordering food, the man left the table (perhaps told the girlfriend that he had to go to the washroom). But he didn't. Instead, he gave the engagement ring to the manager so that the manager can do his part.
In a few minutes, Dodge, the manager, went up to the table, with a waiter in tow. He explained to the lady that our chef made a mistake in preparing her dish. Instead, he's giving her a complimentary dish. The waitstaff lays down the dish in front of her. On top of the dish was a piece of paper that said,
"Pakakasalan mo ba ako?" which means "Will you marry me?" And under the piece of paper was the engagement ring.
Needless to say, the lady had a wide smile and said yes. Dodge told us that they didn't stay long after and left after having dinner. "Nag- motel siguro!" he assumes.

Tiny Talks: Part 7
Thursday, April 07, 2005
This entry was derived from
Cami's blog.
One day, when Cami woke up, she went downstairs to eat breakfast and saw my two youngest brothers, Don and Xavi, at the table, eating quietly. She wondered why it was so quiet and realized that their eldest brother wasn't around to bully them.
Cami: Where's Judo?
Xavi: He's sick.
Don: Yeah, Judo is sick! Also Xavier is sick!
Xavi: (Pouting and makes a long, sad face) Yeah.. I'm sick.
Don: (In a really fast way) MeImNotSickCuzIeatMyBoogers!
As Cami said, "Honestly! What does my mom teach her kids?"

Just A Quick Note
Hey guys! I'm back!
Actually, I've been home since Saturday. Two days short of my estimated time of arrival.
So why am I home early?
1] My Uncle's back started aching. Fearing that it might be slip disc yet again, he decided to go home and see his chiropractor. I was supposed to accompany him.
2] I missed A already. In fact, A didn't know I was coming home! I schemed and put Bri up to it to get him where I wanted. Needless to say, he was so surprised that he was speechless and I guess a bit disappointed that he wasn't playing counterstrike with the boys after all.
3] There was no internet! It would have made work easier for me if I could communicate with our Manila office and chat with friends via internet.
4] I was bored. It's the same thing every night. I didn't know that drinking and dancing till the wee hours of the morning could get tiring. (I know, I know. Some of you are probably reeling in shock and want to b*tchslap me for not realizing how lucky I am. Trust me, I know I am lucky and a lot of you would trade places with me in a split second. But you know what? Now I kinda miss it! Ah, sue me!)
Anyway, more stories about the surreal universe that is Boracay when I've got more time to post and when I get copies of pictures from my friends. In the mean time, enjoy my other posts!
